An Update on the Statewide Meeting! October 31, 2008
Hmong Minnesota Student Association (HMSA) has graciously offered to host HCSM’s annual statewide meeting this year! So gather your friends and come join us for this FREE event to help update our database, to network and meet people and if you know nothing about HCSM, to learn more about HCSM and what it can do for you!
The dress code is very simple: Come and show school pride! Dress in your school’s memorabilia and/or school colors to represent your school! The most represented school will win a bag of cookies!*
We are also very excited about the Statewide Conference in Spring 2009 and anyone who is interested in helping us plan it should also show up so they can sign up to be on the committee!

Meet the MN Senatorial Candidates! October 23, 2008
To all college students, this Saturday Oct 25th, 2008 at the Lao Family Center will be the first ever Hmong Community Forum with invitation to the three Senate Candidates!
All members of the community are encourage to attend and learn where each candidate stands on issues most important to them! College students - this is a great opportunity to be active in your community and show your support for the Hmong community!

HCSM Statewide Meeting 2008 October 22, 2008
HCSM will be holding its annual Statewide Meeting this year tentatively on November 8th or 9th - we are aiming for the 9th! The event is proposed to run from 2 pm to 6 pm. As more information comes in, we will post it on here.
We also heard what representatives had to say at our President’s Retreat and have decided to circle our theme around “Networking”. The event like all HCSM events, is opened to the public and community! For students planning to attend, we encourage you to wear your school attire, colors, whatever it takes to represent your school at the meeting!
We will also be taking this time to update membership packets, network with other schools and encourage anyone who’s interested, to join our Statewide Conference Planning Committee!

President’s Retreat
This past September, HCSM hosted the annual President’s Retreat at Hamline University. The purpose was to initiate a strong network as well as look at pertinent issues among incoming 2008-2009 school presidents/chairs/representatives of surrounding colleges and universities in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.
And of course the theme was “Fine Dining”. The evening opened up with introductions and icebreakers then we broke off into two groups to discuss which issues were important to this year’s group of representatives. We then branched out into talking about what each school organization had planned for this school year and what HCSM can do to help.
